Only four contestants remain on SAS Australia as the finale will see them combine all the skills they have learnt into a three-phase final mission, to pass the course, and make selection.
The finale of SAS Australia is at 7:30 pm, November 1 on Seven and 7Plus.
On the second-last day of SAS Australia’s course, there were five contestants remaining, Abbey Holmes, Dr Craig Challen, Matthew Mitcham, Mahalia Murphy and Tim Robards.
After a day of battling the elements and their injuries, the count would come down to four.
The first task of the day saw a sniper challenge but all contestants failed to identify a potential target. After the first task, they went back to base camp only to find that a thunderstorm had come out of nowhere, bringing with it heavy rains that flooded their lodgings.
While raining, each contestant lugged two heavy cans of water up a slope and only four made it to the finish line.
Mahalia Murphy had to hand in her number halfway through, not being able to finish the carry.
The final test saw each remaining contestant face an intense interview by all four directing staff together. With glare galore, they asked each contestant to state why they deserved to remain in the competition.
After the interviews, host Ant Middleton called them into the courtyard.
“Final four,” he began. “You all indeed deserve to be here.
“This will be your last night on camp – make the most of it, because tomorrow there’s a huge, huge task ahead of you – the most difficult and most painful that you have experienced on this course.
“I want you to push harder than you’ve ever pushed before. You have everything you need to get to the end of this course – and, for some of you, to pass it.”
SAS Australia is produced by Screentime, a Banijay Group company, based on a Minnow Films format.
