Nick Kyrgios continues his Wimbledon campaign with a fourth-round match against USA’s Brandon Nakashima from 10:30pm AEST on Channel Nine.
The pairing comes after Kyrgios’ defeat of Stefanos Tsitsipas, 6-7, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6. The match wasn’t without controversy, with both players recieving fines after the game – Tsitsipas was fined $US10,000 ($A14,700) for hitting a ball into the crowd, while Kyrgios is now out $US4000 ($A6000) for an ‘audible obscenity’.
For Kyrgios, this is on top of a $A14,400 fine he received in round one for spitting in the direction of a spectator.
For American Nakashima, he enters the fourth round having defeated Colombian Daniel Elahi Galán 6-4, 6-4, 6-1. That particular match came with far fewer outraged headlines – or fines.
The game will be the first match on centre court on day eight, preceded by fellow Aussie Alex de Minaur going up against Chile’s Cristian Garín. Coverage for that game can be seen from 7:30pm on 9Gem.
Two more Australians will take to the court after Nick Kyrgios and Brandon Nakashima.
Ajla Tomljanović, in one of biggest games of her career, will go head-to-head against France’s Alizé Cornet, and with some of the biggest names already knocked out, she is an exciting prospect.
Jason Kubler will also fly the Aussie flag in the fourth round, his first at a Grand Slam, when he faces world No. 14, American Taylor Fritz.
Throughout the evening, Todd Woodbridge, Sam Groth, Jelena Dokic and Brett Phillips will provide expert commentary hosted by Roz Kelly, with Tony Jones on the ground at Wimbledon.
Nine’s coverage of the 135th tournament will start at 7:30pm every night on 9Gem. Every match will be available to stream ad-break free, live and on-demand on Stan Sport, with the ability to catch up on all the action with replays, mini matches and highlights.
