The CommBank Matildas are set to go head-to-head with China in a two-match friendly series, the last time we will see the team play on home soil before they fly out to the Paris Olympic Games.
After 12 consecutive sold out matches on home turf, the CommBank Matildas are preparing for sell-out crowds in Adelaide and Sydney, with both games played live and free on Network 10 and 10 Play, and streaming on Paramount+.
First up, they head to Adelaide Oval on Friday, 31 May with coverage kicking off from 7.30pm.
Tony Gustavsson‘s side will make their way to Accor Stadium three days later where proceedings will get underway from 7.00pm AEST with an exclusive Paramount+ pre-show before the action kicks off live and free on Network 10 and 10 Play at 7.30pm AEST.
There will be a familiar face in China’s dugout with former Matildas and Macarthur FC coach Ante Milicic having recently taken charge of China PR.
On Friday, The Australian reported that Football Australia is “in the final stages of negotiations with Network Ten on a four-year extension” to the current TV rights deal that was worth $100m deal. The publication is reporting that the next contract is set to double that amount, worth $200m off the back of the team’s popularity surge.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 saw the Seven Network’s coverage deliver the biggest viewing audiences across all screens since the OzTAM audience measurement system started in 2001.
Almost 18.6 million Australians watched the tournament across the screens of Seven, including 14.76 million reached on broadcast and 3.82 million on 7plus.
The Matildas’ Semi Final against England on 16 August became the most-watched TV program in more than two decades, with an average audience of 7.2 million and a reach of 11.15 million.
