Australia added seven gold medals on Day 10 of the Commonwealth Games to become the first nation to reach 1,000 gold medals in Games history.
There are 12 golds up for grabs on the final night of the game, with Australia in the running for four via diving (mixed synchronised 10m platform, mixed synchronised 3m springboard), table tennis (women’s doubles final) and hockey (men’s final).
Key moments to watch
5:00pm | Badminton: Men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.
7.00pm | Diving: Mixed synchronised events – in both 3m and 10m – make their debut on the final day of the Games. Australia will feature two pairs in each event: Anabelle Smith and Domonic Bedggood and Li Shixin and Maddison Keeney in the 3m, while Emily Boyd and Cassiel Rosseau and Melissa Wu and Domonic Bedggood will contest the 10m.
7.00pm | Squash: The women’s double plate final will see Australia’s Alex Haydon and Jess Turnbull vie for gold against Pakistan’s Faiza Zafar and Amna Fayyaz.
7.10pm | Table Tennis: Australia’s Minhyung Jee & Fang Lay take on Singapore’s Tianwei Feng and Jian Zeng in the women’s gold medal match.
9.30pm | Hockey: The Kookaburras arrive at their final stop on the Commonwealth Games calendar, taking on India in the men’s gold medal match.
Day 10 wrap:
As well as seven gold, Australia picked up nine silver and three bronze on Day 10.
Georgia Baker (cycling), Kelsey-Lee Barber (javelin) and divers Maddison Keeney and Cassiel Rousseau took out individual gold overnight.
Chris McHugh and Paul Burnett won beach volleyball gold together, while the Australian women’s cricket and netball teams both took home gold.
Peter Bol (800m), Declan Tingay (10,000m race walk), Brooke Buschkuel (long jump), Lin Ma (table tennis) and boxers Kaye Scott and Callum Peters took out silver, as did Mackenzie Little behind javelin champion Barber.
Beach volleyball duo Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy won silver for the second straight Commonwealth Games, while the Hockeyroos finished runners-up to England.
Abbey Caldwell (1500m) snared a come-from-behind bronze at the track, while Sarah Roy secured the final spot on the podium in the road race won by Baker.
And Yangzi Liu won Australia’s first-ever women’s singles table tennis medal across Commonwealth Games, Olympics or world championships competition.
