The ABC Coverage begins at 7:30 pm (AEDT), as Frydenberg hands down his federal budget live from Canberra.

From 8 pm (AEDT), Leigh Sales will host live coverage of the budget announcement and conduct interviews with the Treasurer and Shadow Treasurer.

Sales will be joined by the host of ABC TV’s Insiders program David Speers, ABC’s political editor Andrew Probyn and 7.30’s chief political correspondent Laura Tingle.

Special guests will include Chris Richardson from Deloitte Access Economics, Julia Lee from Burman Invest, CEO of the Business Council of Australia Jennifer Westacott , ACTU president Michele O’Neil , and commissioner of the national mental health commission Professor Ngiare Brown. Along with special segments from Inga Ting and Casey Briggs looking at the data behind the budget numbers as well as the economic impact of COVID-19.

The coverage continues from 9 pm with extended analysis by David Speers, Annabel Crabb, Shalailah Medhora, Jeremy Fernandez and special guests from the welfare, tourism and business sectors.

At 9:30 pm on ABC News, Jeremy Fernandez will gauge community reaction from Western Sydney followed at 9:45 pm by Elysse Morgan with a special edition of The Business, where she speaks to Romilly Madew, CEO of Infrastructure Australia and economist Andrew Charlton.

On ABC Radio, Linda Mottram will host an extended edition of PM from 6:30 pm.

The ABC will also broadcast Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese’s Budget Reply speech at 7:30 pm on Thursday 8 October.

SKY News

Sky News coverage begins at 5:00am with Peter Stefanovic on First Edition.

9:00am, Tom Connell will be joined by leading economists to discuss the potential market and economic impact of the Government’s package during AM Agenda.

12:00 pm Ashleigh Gillon will present NewsDay for the latest predictions from politicians, pundits and policymakers.

2:00 pm Sky News will cross to live coverage of Question Time during Parliament Live from the House of Representatives in Canberra.

Tom Connell will anchor Afternoon Agenda at 3:15 pm from Canberra providing insight and analysis on the breaking news stories set to affect the outcome of the 2020 Budget.

5:00 pm Chris Kenny anchors a special edition of The Kenny Report, setting the scene and examining the potential political and economic reaction to the budget.

6:00 pm Peta Credlin anchors a special 90-minute edition of Credlin with economic and financial experts joining the program to breakdown what will matter most.

Then live from 7:30 pm, coverage from the House of Representatives, as Treasurer Josh Frydenberg hands down Budget 2020.

After the Treasurer delivers his speech, chief news anchor, Kieran Gilbert anchors Budget 2020 at 8:00 pm.

Kieran will be joined for the hour-long analysis by Sky News business editor Ticky Fullerton, The Australian’s economics editor and co-anchor of Business Weekend, Adam Creighton, political editor Andrew Clennell, Sky News anchor Andrew Bolt and former Labor cabinet minister and Senator Stephen Conroy.

Gilbert will also have a live one-on-one interview with Treasurer Josh Frydenberg and Shadow Treasurer Jim Chalmers.  

9:00 pm Paul Murray breaks down what the budget means for ordinary Australians during Paul Murray Live.

11:00 pm Peter Gleeson hosts The Front Page, taking a first look at the nation’s front pages to examine how the Budget will play out in the media.
