A Current Affair will celebrate the work of Tracy Grimshaw as host of the public affairs program for the past 17 years over two nights, this Wednesday and Thursday at 7.00 pm on Nine and 9Now.
Grimshaw announced in September that she would be stepping down from the helm of the highest-rating public affairs program since taking the reins as host in 2006 from previous host Ray Martin.
In a special one-hour edition of A Current Affair tomorrow, the program will look back at some of her most memorable interviews.
Among them are her unforgettable interviews with Don Burke, James Hewitt, Lindy Chamberlain, Terri and Bindi Irwin, Michael Parkinson, Scott Morrison, Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga, as well as the Beaconsfield mine survivors, Todd Russell and Brant Webb.
Tomorrow night’s program will also include an insightful interview with Tracy herself. We’ll learn why she loves listening to people’s stories, why she asks the questions she asks and how she gains the trust of her audience.
Then on Thursday night, Tracy’s last night at the ACA desk, we’ll hear tributes from a roll-call of personalities, including Anthony Albanese, John Howard, Ita Buttrose, Steve Liebmann, Jeff Kennett, Eddie McGuire, Andy Lee, Josh Frydenberg, Sooshi Mango, Sam Newman and Nick Giannopoulos.
ACA will also take a look back at Grimshaw’s career and chat with some of the people she has helped along the way.
Thursday’s episode will conclude with Grimshaw’s final message to her viewers.
Back in September, Grimshaw announced to viewers that the end of the show she would be leaving her post as host.
Grimshaw said at the time: “Normally right about now we’d be telling you what to expect tomorrow night but lately I’ve personally been thinking longer term, and I have some news that I wanted you to hear from me before you hear it from anyone else.”
“I’ve decided to finish up with A Current Affair this year.
“It’s been a big decision and before the gossip websites start telling you rubbish, I want you to know it’s been my decision alone and I’m not being shoved out the door by the boys club because I’m too old.
“I’ve basically been a shift worker for 26 years, driving to work before dawn for nine years on the Today Show, and the past 17 years driving home after dark here on A Current Affair and it’s time for less of that daily obligation.”
A new host is yet to be announced.
