It’s a NSW derby as the NSW Swifts and Giants Netball face-off in the 2021 Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final at Nissan Arena in Brisbane this Saturday from 2.30pm AEST on Channel Nine and 9Now.
After beating West Coast Fever in the preliminary final and ending their hopes of back-to-back Grand Final appearances, the Giants are stepping up for their first Grand Final. And after winning the premiership in 2019, the Swifts are on course for another Suncorp Super Netball title.
Both teams have survived numerous interstate relocations, hours of quarantine and months on the road to keep the competition going amid the Covid-19 crisis across Australia, and will leave it all on the court in the decider.
Nine’s head of netball, Keeley Devery, said: “The fifth season of Suncorp Super Netball has been a display of deep passion and dedication, from the players and coaches to the Queensland government, who have pulled off an exceptional season in the midst of the pandemic.
“It is a massive feat for NSW to have two teams in the Grand Final and Saturday’s game is sure to be an epic finale to a season which has brought fans 17 weeks of world-class netball.”
Netball legends Cath Cox, Laura Geitz and Sue Gaudion will cover all the action in what is set to be an exhilarating Grand Final.
This will be the last Grand Final on Nine after Foxtel and Kayo Sports signed a new agreement that will see them broadcast Australia’s netball games for five years. The games will start airing from next season.
For the past five years, netball has been aired on Nine Entertainment, with a deal made between Nine and Netball Australia in 2016 that is set to expire at the end of the 2021 Super Netball season. The Netball Live App – which ran through Telstra – will be shut down.
