The second season of Star Trek: Picard, a Paramount Plus original, has topped the New Zealand TV demand charts with 16.97 points above market average. The season premiere ranked second in Australia’s digital original series, coming in 20.13 points above average and fifth in overall TV shows.
Star Trek: Picard season two will consist of 10 episodes, dropping weekly on Thursdays, with a star cast consisting of Patrick Stewart, Alison Pill, Jeri Ryan, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, and Orla Brady. Special guests Whoopi Goldberg and John de Lancie are among this season’s cast.
The series has already been picked up for a third season, which was filmed simultaneously alongside season 2.
For the second week in a row, Disney Plus original, The Mandalorian, has placed first in Australia’s digital series with 21.73 points above average, while falling slightly from second to third place in New Zealand’s digital series with 13.78 points.
Sesame Street has placed first in Australia’s overall TV shows with a difference of 23.32 from market average as the death of Sesame Street actor Emilio Delgado, aged 81, was announced. Delgado spent over 45 years on the children’s show and had the longest-running role for a Mexican American actor in a TV series.
Outlander ranked second in Australia and New Zealand’s overall TV shows, with a market average of 23.1 and 16.71, respectively, as the sixth season premiered on March 6 after a two-year hiatus.
Married At First Sight made its way into the charts for the first time, placing sixth in Australia and fourth in New Zealand.
The Book of Boba Fett claimed second place in New Zealand’s digital series (14.19), third in Australia’s digital series (17.27), and sixth in New Zealand’s overall shows.
HBO Max’s Our Flag Means Death, Amazon Prime’s The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, and Netflix’s Pieces of Her are all new additions to the TV demand charts.
