In Australia, Netflix’s smash hit Korean drama Squid Game has topped both of the charts. New Zealanders aren’t quite as keen on the show, with Squid Game coming in fourth on the Digital Original chart and not cracking the top 10 overall.
In the series 456 desperate contestants compete with each other in a mysterious and deadly survival game involving multiple rounds of childhood games to win 45.6 billion Korean won in prize money that can pull them out of their misery.
Netflix head of content and co-CEO Ted Sarandos has revealed that Squid Game is the streaming platform’s #1 show globally. He also noted that at the current rate it should eventually become the most-watched Netflix series of all time.
This week Squid Game scored 29.33 points above market average in Australia and 11.49 points above average in New Zealand.

After wrapping up its second season with an emotional climax and leaving the door open for a third season, Ted Lasso has topped both charts in New Zealand and come in second on both Australian charts this week.
In the show, American Ted Lasso is a coach of college-level American soccer team. He finds himself recruited to coach an English Premier League team, AFC Richmond, despite having absolutely no experience in that level of the game.
This week Ted Lasso scored 28.47 points above market average in Australia and 18.96 points above average in New Zealand.
Marvel’s What If…? Isn’t doing as well as previous Marvel chart toppers from earlier this year (WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki), but is performing steadily. The animated series asks the question “what if?” about a number of Marvel characters and explores how thor world could be different.
This week What If…? scored 13.44 points above market average in Australia and 11.03 points above average in New Zealand.
