1. Foreign-language movies doing good business at the Australian Box Office.
Bollywood romantic comedy Tanu Weds Manu Returns recorded the best screen average at the box office last week. It’s nice to see international films get a run on the big screens in Australia.
2. Jessie J sings Pitch Perfect 2 soundtrack Flashlight with fans
Often when tracks become a hit we see countless parodies and covers of them on YouTube. But, it rarely happens that you see the original singer of the track perform a duet with their fans. Jessie J did exactly that, well kind of. She recorded her voice on a karaoke track, uploaded it on Smule and encouraged fans to sing along with her. And some of the results are beyond amazing, like the one below.
3. Happy 10th Birthday YouTube!
The video platform, which we now can not imagine our lives without, celebrated its 10th birthday on Friday. On this momentous occasion I would like to thank the platform for AIB, Ellen, the Rebecca Black’s “Friday”, the Old Spice ad, Psy’s “Gangnam Style”, Justin Bieber’s Baby, ||Superwoman||, all the beauty videos and the list goes on…

4. mX closes down. Where will I get my dose of quirky news, Here’s Looking at You, Overheard and Lost in Love?
On my home on the train, I see a sea of people reading their copies of the mX. What’s going to happen once its gone? I predict more people tapping away on their mobile phones playing Candy Crush or Temple Run – or are they both old news now too?
