Broadcaster Tim Lane has renewed his contract with 3AW. The new deal will see Lane calling AFL matches for 3AW on Saturday and Sunday afternoons for the 2023 season.
Tim Lane said: “I’m delighted to be continuing with 3AW into 2023. After seeing those old fogeys from Geelong celebrating their flag on Mad Monday, I know there’s another year in me.”
Stephen Beers, 3AW station manager, said: “It is great to have Tim on board again for next season. He is deservedly the best in the business and we look forward to Tim leading the call again.”
Lane began his sports broadcasting career in 1972. Throughout his 50 year career he has called a wide variety of sports, including tennis, cricket, athletics as well as AFL.
Last month, 3AW announced that it was welcoming Jacqui Felgate, who is set to lead the AFL commentary and analysis team in 2023 as part of the station’s revamped lineup footy coverage.
Felgate will be joined by returning favourites Matthew Lloyd, Jimmy Bartel, Leigh Matthews, Caroline Wilson, Tim Lane and a host of others as 3AW takes back control of its AFL content and commercialisation from SEN.
After stints filling in on 3AW Breakfast and Afternoons, Felgate said she is delighted to be joining 3AW.
“I grew up listening to 3AW footy while standing with my mum in the outer at Kardinia Park,” she said.
“I’ve loved filling in over recent months and I’m delighted to be able to talk footy with our listeners next season. It really is a privilege to work alongside such experienced and talented broadcasters.”
