‘The whole world could laugh at me’: Raygun’s fear before Paris Olympics revealed

Olympic breakdancer ‘Raygun’ (Rachael Gunn) has revealed she feared becoming the subject of global ridicule before competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The revelation was made in the newly released trailer for Netflix documentary Untold: Raygun: Breaking Badly, which examines Gunn’s Olympic performance and the extraordinary global reaction that followed.

The trailer opens with Gunn seated before the camera as she recounts her fears ahead of competing in Paris.

“Right before the Olympics, I went to my therapist, panicked. She was like, ‘What’s the worst that could happen?’ I said, ‘The whole world could laugh at me’. She’s like, ‘Do you think that’s reasonable?’”

What follows is a rapid reminder of what came next.

Viral sensation

Gunn’s Olympic performance became one of the most viral moments of the Games, triggering a wave of memes, jokes and online commentary, alongside misinformation and conspiracy theories about how she qualified for the competition.

The trailer leans into that reaction, cutting between footage of Gunn and the global response to her performance.

Her parents also appear, with one interviewer asking whether they had “ever associated Olympian and Rachael growing up?” to which her father bursts out laughing and her mother replies: “Never”

Untold returns with three new stories

The film is produced by Stardust Frames Production and Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia.

Chapman Way and Maclain Way also serve as executive producers alongside Johnny Lowry, Ben Silverman, Howard Owens, Stephanie Scicchitano, Harry Gamsu and Ryan Duffy. Shuli Harel, Jake Graham-Felsen and Carolyn Craddock are co-executive producers.
