The Real Love Boat, 10’s new dating show, will premiere on Wednesday, October 5 at 7:30 pm on 10 and 10Play.
Based on the 1970s scripted series, The Love Boat, the new reality show has gathered 21 Australian single men and women ready to set sail on a romantic cruise across the Mediterranean sea in the hopes of finding “the one”.
The Real Love Boat will sail aboard Princess Cruises ship, Regal Princess, sailing across the waters of Spain, Greece, France, Italy, Turkey and Montenegro.
Destination Dates and surprise singles will test the couples’ compatibility and chemistry.
And after a month on the ocean, only one couple will have the chance to make it to the final port. As the series’ exclusive line partner, Princess Cruises will award the winning couple with a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
Like the beloved original scripted series, the indispensable crew members will play pivotal roles in the matchmaking and navigation of the romantic (and sometimes turbulent) waters ahead.
On board is host Darren McMullen, cruise director Hannah Ferrier, head of entertainment Daniel Doody, and Princess Cruises’ captain Paolo Arrigo, who will help guide the hopefuls on their quest to true love.
McMullen, together with Ferrier and Doody, will act as meddling cupids, helping to nurture sparks with some of the singles.
McMullen revealed that he would also feature on the Captain’s Table. He explained: “We have this wonderful thing called the Captain’s Table where we get to absolutely grill the contestants and make sure they’re all there for the right reasons.”
“I haven’t seen any other dating shows before where the host gets to go apeshit at the contestants,” he said, noting that he’d admonish anyone he thought wasn’t being sincere.
“I loved the Captain’s Table. It was the most fun part of the show for me,” he added.
Ferrier, best known as Below Deck’s chief stewardess, will keep our lovebirds in check as The Real Love Boat’s cruise director. She will be responsible for managing hospitality and social events onboard our cruise liner of love.
Ferrier said: “After more than a decade at sea in the Mediterranean, I am so excited to join The Real Love Boat and help all our amazing passengers find love! I’m going to be watching them very closely and helping them every step of the way on their journeys to find their perfect match.”
Doody, Studio 10’s roving reporter, will bring the energy and excitement on board as head of entertainment. He will deliver memorable experiences while fostering the emotional connections formed with our singles.
Doody said: “It’s so amazing to be part of The Real Love Boat. Sailing along the beautiful Mediterranean with our singles onboard, finding love is exciting and new. Let the fun times begin!”
