With former US president Barack Obama currently down under as part of a sold out speaking tour, The Fox 101.9 Melbourne’s breakfast team were given the interview opportunity of a lifetime.
Or so they thought.
On Thursday morning, Obama joined Fifi, Fev & Nick’s Brendan Fevola and Nick Cody (Fifi Box is currently overseas with her family) for an exclusive phone chat whilst he stopped off in Melbourne.

An audibly nervous Fevola began the interview, asking “Is it Mr Obama or is it Mr President?” with Obama joking back that “the accustomed is that you’re president for life.”
When asked how he was finding Australia, Obama replied that the country is “beautiful.”
“I’ve been here before. I’ve been here as President, I’ve been here as a young man, and now I’m here as an old man. I think now, being here old is the best. It’s great – and I get to see parts I didn’t get to see well while I was President beautiful.”
After getting some insights into Obama’s thoughts on the state of the world (“there’s hostility and divisiveness, but I’m not completely out on the state of the world”), and whether he’d ever been starstruck (“being a Chicago native, Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman”), things began to unravel.
“Fifi wanted me to ask what day it is on Saturday,” Obama said as the interview was wrapping up.
“Daylight savings? April 2nd?”
“April 2nd?”
Alas, Saturday isn’t quite April second, by April 1st. With the entire interview revealed as an April Fools Day prank,
The person behind Barack Obama’s voice turned out to be US comedian and impressionist Ryan Goldsher, a man with an impressive resume of voices he can impersonate.

Fevola and Cody were left arguing over whether or not they’d actually been tricked by Goldsher’s impression, although both agreed on one final statement after the prank – “hey Fifi, suck a fart!”
