Singles
The Chainsmokers are refusing to give up their #1 chart spot for “Closer” which spends a fifth week at #1.
Two tunes made it into the top 10 this week – Ariana Grande moved from #37 to #7 with her fourth top 10 “Side To Side” after two weeks, while Hailee Steinfeld jumped from #24 to #9 with her first top 10 “Starving” after three weeks.
The chart’s highest new entry was The Black Eyed Peas who are back on the chart with “#Wheresthelove” featuring The World. The rewritten and remixed song is a former #1 of course and this re-entry makes it 15 weeks in total on the chart.
Sia was the surprise guest at the Apple iPhone event last week and her tune “The Greatest”, featuring Kendrick Lamar is new at #25. The song is from her forthcoming album “We Are Your Children”.
Other new arrivals in the top 50 were:
#32 Zara Larsson with “Ain’t My Fault”
#43 Passenger with “Anywhere”
#50 Cheat Codes and Dante Klein with “Let Me Hold You”
Albums
American metalcore band A Day To Remember are the latest act to burn up the charts and grab top spot with their new album “Bad Vibrations” before perhaps disappearing not quite as quickly over successive weeks.
This is the band’s first ARIA #1 after their previous album, 2013’s “Common Courtesy” peaked at #11.
Two other albums landed in the top 10 on debut:
#5 Melbourne duo Big Scary with their third album and first top 10 “Animal”
#10 American rapper Travis Scott with his second album and ARIA chart debut “Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight”
Also new to the ARIA Album Chart this week were:
#28 Irish singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow with “We Move”
#29 American singer-songwriter Angel Olsen with “My Woman”
#35 British indie artist Jamie T with “Trick”
#49 Third solo album from Cat Empire vocalist Felix Riebl – “Paper Doors”
