TEG Group, the parent company of Ticketek, has welcomed SXSW Sydney’s head of marketing and commercial partnerships, Simon Cahill, as head of commercial.
In the new role, Cahill will continue to oversee the commercial interests of SXSW Sydney, in addition to taking a leadership role in the TEG commercial team. He will be responsible for all of TEG’s commercial activity across the group, working with all the company’s businesses to identify and drive growth opportunities globally.
Cahill will operate from TEG’s Sydney office reporting to TEG Group CEO Geoff Jones.
“Simon has done a tremendous job at SXSW Sydney and his expertise and drive make him a perfect fit for this new role and a great addition to the senior leadership team,” Jones said.
Cahill added: “I am excited to further immerse myself across the TEG Group. TEG is currently in an exciting time of growth both locally and globally and I look forward to seizing these opportunities for clients through world-class partnerships.”
SXSW Sydney held its inaugural conference in 2023 and will return in 2024. Last year, the event attracted 287,014 attendees for its 1,178 sessions and events, drawing representatives from 41 countries. The event included speakers such as Nicole Kidman, Chance The Rapper, Charlie Brooker, Naomi Watts, Amy Webb and Cindy Gallop.
To build on the success of the event, SXSW Sydney has opened it Session Select for panel & speaker submissions for the 2024 festival. The festival is inviting proposals for panels, presentations, workshops, meet-ups or podcasts.
In 2024, the festival will have 23 conference tracks to choose from, including new ones. SXSW Sydney has included tracks for the Creator Economy, Cyber & Your Data, Education & Skills, Fashion, Lifestyle & Beauty, and Food.
