Meta and EssilorLuxottica have launched Meta Glasses in Australia, expanding their AI eyewear partnership beyond Ray-Ban Meta with a new range of smart glasses.

The range starts from AUD $469 and includes three frame styles, 26 style combinations, and a model designed with Kylie Jenner.

What are Meta Glasses?

Meta Glasses are AI-powered smart glasses designed for hands-free everyday use. The devices include Meta AI, photo and video capture, open-ear audio, and live translation across 20 languages, including Japanese, Mandarin, Hindi and Korean.

The launch builds on Ray-Ban Meta glasses, which Meta says have sold millions of units globally. The new range marks a broader push into displayless AI eyewear, with frames designed to look closer to everyday glasses than a standalone tech device.

Frames and Australian pricing

The Australian range launches with three frame styles.

The collection includes colour and lens combinations across options such as sun, Transitions, polarised and clear lenses. Meta said the glasses are also compatible with prescription lenses.

AI, audio and camera features

Meta AI is built into the glasses, allowing users to ask questions, get recommendations, manage daily tasks and receive help based on what the glasses can see.

The glasses also include hands-free photo and video capture, open-ear audio for music, podcasts and calls, and microphones designed for voice commands and calls while on the move.

Meta said additional updates are coming soon, including pedestrian navigation and Dynamic Photo. The camera feature will automatically capture multiple frames and recommend the best image.

Wearable technology push

The launch comes as Meta continues to position smart glasses as a key consumer hardware category for AI. Its partnership with EssilorLuxottica has already produced Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta products.

For marketers and media brands, the release points to the growing role of AI wearables in content capture, search behaviour and ambient audio consumption. It also shows Meta leaning on fashion and celebrity collaboration to take smart glasses beyond early adopters.

Meta Glasses are available in Australia from 24 June via Meta.com and selected retailers.
