Sydney Sweeney 'puts the focus on sports' in new ad

Actor Sydney Sweeney, 28, has appeared mostly naked in an ad for Novig, the sports prediction market brand of which she is an equity holder in.

Sweeney shot the video for the ad while in Australia filming Netflix’s Gundam film, so hopefully wasn't too cold.

The campaign has gone viral, which is not surprising as Sweeney's star has been on the rise for some years, with her appearing in major films such as Immaculate , The Housemaid, and Anyone But You.

The new ad shows the actor in various states of undress, using sports equipment (mostly balls) and clever angles to engage viewers.

(Yes, that's me putting it politely - it's very provocative.)

And it's worked, with millions of views across social media platforms.

In a press release, Sweeney said she was happy to “embrace a fun idea” and be playful in the ad.

"The concept is simple: cut through the noise and put the focus entirely on sports,” she said professionally, despite literally none of the focus being on sports. 

“The campaign brings that idea to life with confidence, humour and a playful edge.”

Indeed it does.

It's of course not Sweeney's first major marketing campaign. She was also in American Eagle Outfitters ads last year, which sparked a major online backlash due to its tagline, “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.”
