Stan Sport has announced the new look SVNS will join its rugby offering in an exclusive multi-year partnership.
The new series format will include eight events from the biggest cities in the world in the lead-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games where the Sevens will feature following its introduction to the Olympics program in 2016.
Formerly known as the World Rugby Sevens Series, the remodelled SVNS 2024 will include eight festival-style events, in eight global destinations, across seven months, featuring the twelve best men’s and women’s teams in the world, and is set to kick off in December 2023.
Participating men’s teams include: Argentina, Australia, Canada, Fiji, France, Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, Samoa, South Africa, Spain, USA.
Participating women’s teams include: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Fiji, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, USA.
The 2023/24 series kicks off in Dubai on December 2-3 before heading to Cape Town the following week. Perth has been locked in as a host for the 2024 and 2025 series, with the event set to take place from 26-28 January at HBF Park.
The Perth event will kick off 2024 before events in Vancouver, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Singapore. It will conclude with the Grand Final in Madrid on 31 May – 2 June, where the top eight placed teams will battle it out for the overall title and the teams ranked ninth to 12th will join the top four teams from the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series to decide the final four spots on SVNS 2025.
