Stan has announced it is launching a major new original documentary slate: Revealed – featuring Stan Original Documentaries created in collaboration with award-winning journalists, filmmakers and philanthropists from Australia and around the world.
The announcement cements Stan and the Nine Network’s collaborative partnership, leveraging Nine’s journalists and producers from 60 Minutes, The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian Financial Review, and more. The announcement also represents Stan’s move into original longform investigative content, with Revealed set to explore major stories.
Featuring a diverse range of documentary films, Revealed begins with the premiere of the feature documentary Amongst Us – Neo Nazi Australia on 27 March. An investigation led by 12-time Walkley Award-winning 60 Minutes, The Age, and The Sydney Morning Herald reporter Nick McKenzie, Amongst Us explores the terrifying rise of neo Nazi activity in Australia.
Revealed will continue with more feature documentaries set to premiere this year including: The Price of Hate, a forensic examination of the ‘Frankston Serial Killer’ Paul Denyer, reported by The Age’s veteran crime reporter John Silvester; Reefshot, an urgent call to action on the state of the Great Barrier Reef, with The Sydney Morning Herald environment reporter Laura Chung embedded in the production. Stan executive producer Amanda Duthie will be working across the full Revealed slate.
Stan chief executive officer Martin Kugeler said: “Stan’s new documentary slate ‘Revealed’ represents the next milestone in our collaborative partnership with Nine. This initiative gives Stan unrivalled access to the investigative journalists and producers that drive Nine’s world class flagship current affairs program 60 Minutes, alongside the acclaimed reporters from Nine Publishing’s mastheads The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, and The Australian Financial Review.”
Stan chief content officer Cailah Scobie said: “Australians have an insatiable appetite for documentaries. Revealed will be a series of important stories told by the world’s best journalists and documentary filmmakers — with the chance to shift the debate and impact the lives of many Australians. We thank our partners for their support on this newly announced slate, including Screen Australia, screen agencies around the country, and the talented independent producers, directors and Nine producers and journalists who bring us these ground-breaking documentaries.”
