Sophie Hornsey has gone from beats to burgers, joining Grill'd as Senior Manager - Marketing, PR & Social, just a week after announcing her departure from Nova Entertainment.

The former Nova communications executive revealed the move on LinkedIn, saying she had already swapped her laptop for an apron as part of the burger chain's onboarding process.

Hornsey said her first days with Grill'd were spent learning the business from the ground up by working in one of its restaurants.

"Excited to share that I've joined Grill'd as Senior Manager - Marketing, PR & Social.

"Before diving into the role, I traded the laptop for an apron and started where every great Grill'd journey begins: in restaurant [sic], learning how to make the perfect burger!

"Spending time with the incredible restaurant teams has been the best introduction to a brand that's built on real hospitality, great burgers and making a positive impact in the communities we're part of.

“I'm excited to get stuck in, tell more of those stories, and help more people discover what makes Grill'd, well… Grill'd.”

Quick turnaround after Nova exit

The appointment comes just one week after Hornsey announced she was leaving Nova Entertainment, where she worked across national publicity for the broadcaster's radio and podcast brands.

Reflecting on her time at the company, Hornsey wrote:

"After an unforgettable chapter, I've said a bittersweet goodbye to NOVA Entertainment.

"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work alongside and learn from such talented people, work on national publicity across radio and podcasts, support amazing talent, and be part of a brand I'm so proud of.

“A huge thank you to the talented teams, talent, media partners and industry peers I've had the privilege of working with. Thank you for your trust, collaboration and the opportunity to tell stories that connected with audiences across the country.”
