Three years since being hired as Seven’s first chief marketing officer, Charlotte Valente has announced that she will be leaving the company.
The news comes a fortnight after the departure of chief people and culture officer Katie McGrath was confirmed, and less than a week before the company’s Upfront. Seven West Media’s annual meeting is set to be held in November
In an email to Seven staff seen by the Australian Financial Review, CEO James Warburton wrote: “Charlie has done an amazing job during her time at SWM, pulling together a range of departments into a co-ordinated, go-to-market CMO division; leading the development and launch of new data products (in record time); and introducing new leadership in key areas including Audience Intelligence, Publicity, Marketing and Corporate Communications, all of whom are performing well.”
According to the AFR, Seven has already begun the search for a replacement, having already hired an executive search team to help fill the role.
Valente said that after leaving Seven, she plans on heading to Europe with her family. Speaking to staff, she thanked her colleagues and said that she looked forward to seeing what the future holds for the company.
“It’s been a momentous three and a bit years which I am hugely proud of; we have transformed our brand and business and achieved some extraordinary results,” Valente said.
“I want to thank James, my fellow executives and the board for their trust, collaboration and support and extend that gratitude to my incredible team, who believed in a vision and executed beautifully.
“I am leaving the company in its strongest ever position and look forward to witnessing the growth still to come.”
Warburton came on board as the Seven West Media CEO in 2019. Valente was his first major hire.
This year, Valente came in at #50 in the Mediaweek 100 countdown of most powerful people in the industry.
