Some of the biggest names in television and entertainment will gather on Friday to raise funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital, when the Seven Network broadcasts the annual Good Friday Appeal.
The Good Friday Appeal is an institution that unites Victorians to raise funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. This year marks the 65th year that Seven has broadcast the event and the network continuing the tradition on Channel Seven in Melbourne and 7plus. Last year’s Good Friday Appeal raised more than $17 million.
Hosts Peter Mitchell, Jane Bunn, Rebecca Maddern, and Mike Amor from 7NEWS will get the Appeal telecast started at 12.00pm, sharing the stories of children and their families who have been touched by the work of the team at The Royal Children’s Hospital. Joining them will be Blake Johnson, Paul Dowsley, and Sharnelle Vella from 7NEWS.
The annual Good Friday AFL blockbuster takes centre stage from 4.00pm, when North Melbourne takes on the Western Bulldogs in the SuperClash at Marvel Stadium. Seven’s commentary team will bring fans all the action live from the ground, including a half-time goal shoot-out with two former club greats to raise funds for the Appeal.
From 7.30pm, host of Channel Seven’s The Morning Show and The Chase Australia, Larry Emdur, 7SPORT’s Hamish McLachlan, and 7NEWS Melbourne anchor Peter Mitchell will host a live night show, with help from Sunrise’s Mark Beretta at the Country Board and 7NEWS’ Paul Dowsley from the phone room.
Singer-songwriter and The Voice coach Guy Sebastian will lead a cavalcade of musicians including Human Nature and The Voice 2021 winner Bella Taylor Smith in a night of entertainment.
Panellists will include footy favourites Daisy Pearce, Brian Taylor, Abbey Gelmi, Abbey Holmes, and Brad Hodge, plus stars from Channel Seven’s Home and Away: Lynne McGranger, Emily Symons, Paddy O’Connor, Sophie Dillman, Luke Van Os, Emily Weir, and Kawakawa Fox-Reo. Comedians Ross Noble, Dilruk Jayasinha, Cal Wilson, and Lizzy Hoo will bring plenty of laughs.
Managing director Seven Melbourne and head of network sport, Lewis Martin said: “The Good Friday Appeal is a truly special event on the Victorian calendar and we are so proud to be celebrating our 65th annual broadcast. There are so many reasons to watch the Appeal, most importantly, to support such an important cause. The Good Friday Appeal’s ongoing success is a brilliant reflection of the strong partnership between media partners Channel Seven and the Herald Sun.”
The coverage will begin early on Channel Seven on Good Friday as Larry Emdur and Sunrise’s Sam Mac cross live from The Royal Children’s Hospital.
