The documentary Secrets of Playboy will premiere on Fox Docos on Foxtel, Sunday, April 24 at 8:30pm. The ten part docuseries will unravel the hidden truths behind the fable and philosophy of the Playboy empire through a modern-day lens, the series delves into the complex world that Hugh Hefner created, and examines its far-reaching consequences on our culture’s view of power and sexuality.
Hugh Hefner was known as the adult fantasy maker. As the creator of Playboy magazine in 1957, he and the nude models, known as Bunnies, who appeared in his publications, became icons of the sexual revolution. As success grew, Hefner created the Playboy Mansion in the California hills, which became infamous for its non-stop bachelor parties, seen as a mecca for sex and good times. Hefner himself became a living embodiment of the Playboy way, always with young ‘Bunnies’ living in his mansion and living as his girlfriends.
Now, 4 years after his 2017 death, these women are speaking out. Interviews include former director of Playmate Promotions Miki Garcia; past girlfriends of Hefner’s including Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt, and Sondra Theodore; Hefner’s personal valet Stefan Tetenbaum; Bunny Mother PJ Masten; Playboy Mansion West resident Jennifer Saginor; and members of Hefner’s staff and inner circle, including his personal bodyguard and butler.
Fox Docos launched on September 1 and is available to Foxtel customers through linear programming and On Demand. It is also home to a number of Foxtel Original documentaries including Walking With Grace, following Australian of the Year Grace Tame as she leads a bush walk of self-empowerment, discovery and healing.
