Peter Charles has been appointed Managing Director Melbourne (SCA and Seven), becoming the local lead across the integrated Melbourne business.

The role spans SCA and Seven in the market, with Charles focused on localising national initiatives, supporting a high-performance culture and guiding the integration of the combined operation.

Charles retains his current roles as Managing Director and Sales Director for Seven Melbourne while taking on the SCA Melbourne managing director remit. He will continue to report to Seven National Television Sales Director Katie Finney for his Seven Melbourne responsibilities.

Victoria Young, Head of Sales, SCA Melbourne, maintains her current reporting structure and remains responsible for driving SCA Melbourne’s revenue performance.

Charles joined Seven’s Melbourne office in 1999 and has held a series of senior sales leadership roles across Victoria. He was appointed Seven Managing Director, Victoria in 2024.

Writing on LinkedIn, Charles said: “The opportunity ahead of us is massive.”

He added that the next chapter would be about “setting us up for long-term success” and ensuring staff have the support they need.

Leadership changes across the merged group

The appointment comes as Southern Cross Media Group continues to settle its leadership structure following its combination with Seven West Media.

At board level, Heith Mackay-Cruise is due to finish as chair and retire as a director on 30 June 2026. Teresa Dyson will become independent non-executive chair on 1 July 2026.

Rohan Lund has been appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Southern Cross Media Group. Angus Ross will start as Managing Director, Television and Streaming on 1 July.

The changes sit within a broader integration across television, audio, digital and corporate functions.
