• Fox Sports’ NRL coverage is up 18% for live and exclusive games
Rugby league legends have revealed the biggest rugby league ball to celebrate Queensland’s biggest NRL fixture – the 14 May double-header at Suncorp Stadium.
Ahead of next Saturday’s Storm v Cowboys and Manly v Broncos blockbusters, Brisbane will be home to Australia’s biggest rugby league ball – nearly seven metres tall – for the week leading up to the biggest fixture on the Queensland NRL calendar.
Rugby league greats Kevin Walters, Gorden Tallis and Ben Ikin plus Broncos star Andrew McCullough and Fox Sports’ presenter Megan Barnard joined Kate Jones MP, Minister for Education and Minister for Tourism and Major Events, to mark the occasion.
Tallis said: “This Saturday’s double-header is set to be an absolute cracker featuring three of the top four teams. The atmosphere at a sold-out Suncorp will be electric and for the hundreds of thousands of NRL fans across the rest of Australia, they’ll be able to see all the action unfold live on Fox Sports from 5pm.”
Walters added: “It’s fantastic that Queensland fans can now watch their team live every week with more familiar faces featuring on Fox Sports’ coverage. With the Cowboys and Broncos sitting first and second on the ladder, it’s never been a better time for local rugby league fans.”
The OzTAM data shows Fox Sports’ NRL coverage is up 18% for live and exclusive games on last year, and 12% across all games.
The giant Rugby League ball will move to Queen Street Mall from Tuesday to Friday (8am-6pm) before heading to Suncorp Stadium precinct for Game Day on May 14 (from 4pm).
Fans can visit and get a selfie with the Steeden across the week.
