Publicis Groupe CEO Arthur Sadoun has revealed his fight with cancer in a recent video message.
Sadoun began: “Bonjour, today this is not my usual film. Today I want to share something with you that is very personal.
“A couple of weeks ago I had surgery as I have to remove a very small tumour that turned out to be cancer. Many of you have experienced that, for you or for your family. This is something that is pretty tough to hear, but most of you know also that this is something that you can overcome and in my case we took this very early.
“We went through surgery immediately, and we actually removed all the cancerous cells. So today I can tell you that there is absolutely no reason to worry.
“I’ve been very lucky that we have moved so fast, the only thing I would say is I think that the doctor could have made this car a bit more discreet but I live with it.
The Publicis Groupe CEO explained that it was a tough time for himself and his family. He said he had dropped a few pounds, but was back at work.
“But as you can see this is over, I’m now back to the office and back to work. Many of you know me very well and you know that I leave no place for uncertainties.
Sadoun said that he will undergo follow-up treatments to ensure the cancer does not return, and added that he will stay at the headquarters in Paris through May and June.
“Honestly, it has been difficult to decide whether I should communicate on that because it is not an easy thing to say.
“But I thought that you should learn this from no one else than me, but it was important for me to go directly to you. And maybe even more important, we have always decided to be open and to be transparent and I want you to do it also here for something that is so personal.
“Thank you very much take very very good care of you and your family and to very soon,” he concluded.
Sadoun joined the company in December 2006 as CEO of Publicis Conseil and, in 2009, was appointed CEO of Publicis France.
Sadoun was appointed as managing director of Publicis Worldwide. In October 2013, he was named CEO of the Publicis Worldwide network.
