Hushidar Kharas head of Prime Video Australia

“Following the successful 2021 Australian Swimming broadcast, we’re excited to again partner with Swimming Australia to bring the 2022 Swimming Championships to sports fans worldwide exclusively on Prime Video at no extra cost to Prime Members,” Hushidar Kharas, head of Prime Video Australia, said.

“Swimming is part of Australia’s DNA, and after Australia’s gold medal rush at the Olympics last year, we look forward to delivering all the excitement and stories behind the athletes live from the Championships on Prime Video.”

The livestream will run on Prime Video from Wednesday, May 18, to Sunday, May 22, with heats each morning from 9:30 a.m. AEST and the evening finals sessions from 7:00 p.m. AEST. Replays for all heats and finals will be available to stream a short time after the conclusion of each race.

According to Grant Hackett, Adelaide will be a great showcase for Australia’s next generation of swimmers, especially with World Championships and Commonwealth Games selections up for grabs. “This is the time when you capitalise on an opportunity as a young swimmer,” he said. “When I look back on my own career, the time I got a chance to make an Australian team was following the Olympic Games because swimmers take breaks, so that’s your opportunity to break through—and that is exactly what we will be seeing here. I am also excited to see a new wave of younger swimmers dominate during the Championships.”
