Optimising co-founder Daniel Zuccon has been appointed to the Australian Web Industry Association (AWIA) Board and will chair this year’s judging committee for its Australian Web Awards.
Zuccon, who is also the operations director for the independent SEO agency, has worked in the industry for more than 20 years and co-founded Optimising with business partner James Richardson in 2008
He credits his time as a judge for the Australian Web Awards, and his role this year as judging chair, as one of his primary motivating factors behind joining the Board.
His time on the Australian Web Awards judging panel provided Zuccon with the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the talent within the Australian web scene, which he felt was incredibly rewarding.
His board appointment will allow him to take that one step further, to make a difference and give back to the industry.
Zuccon said: “AWIA plays an important role in the digital space in Australia providing opportunities for networking, education, mentoring, events, and awards. It has been able to shine a light on some of the exciting work happening within our industry, as well as giving emerging talent additional possibilities for learning.”
“My desire is for the digital marketing industry in Australia to continue innovating and be held to a high standard. I’m passionate about supporting Australian businesses within the web industry and I want us to continue excelling on the world online stage.
“Being part of the AWIA Board helps achieve this vision and gives both individuals and organisations a chance to connect. I’m eager to get started,” he added.
Dr Marion Piper, chair of the AWIA Board said Zuccon’s experience and energy for the industry has made the Board excited about his appointment.
“We’re thrilled to have Daniel join AWIA’s Board of Directors. He’s been an invaluable resource, volunteering his time to help us with the Australian Web Awards.
“His has deep expertise in digital and he brings an energy and enthusiasm that motivates us all to do our best work. I’m personally excited that he’s accepted his Board nomination and I know the web awards wouldn’t be where they are today without his support,” she said.
The Australian Web Awards will be held on 14 May in Sydney.
Zuccon’s board appointment was effective from 9 March, 2022.
