OMD Australia has been ranked as the top performing agency in the country by the latest RECMA ‘Qualitative Domestic Report’ released in October 2022.
This follows the release of the RECMA ‘Quantitative Domestic Report’ in July 2022, in which OMD was ranked in its consistent number one position for Overall Activity Volume.
RECMA is an independent research company that publishes media agency rankings on a global scale.
Within the qualitative report, RECMA measures agency performance across vitality and structure with OMD ranking #1 in both and RECMA stating the agency “remains out of competitors’ reach”. Rankings are achieved through measurement across areas such as new business bins, portfolio growth, awards, agency structure and expertise. With a total score of 27 points, OMD is placed in the dominant profile.
Agency profiles range from average, good, high through to dominant, with OMD being the only Australian media agency to consistently appear in the dominant profile since 2015.
Laura Nice, co-CEO of OMD Australia, said: “We are thrilled that our ongoing success and sustainable approach to agency growth has led to the #1 ranking across both structure and vitality in the latest qualitative report from RECMA.
“Our focus on evolving our agency capability and fostering equitable partnerships that support long-term growth for our people, clients and partners is fundamental to our continued success,” she added.
Sian Whitnall, co-CEO of OMD Australia, added: “Over the past year, we have invested heavily into evolving our agency capability and partnerships which is delivering innovation and results for our partners, and exciting career growth opportunities for our people.
“To be recognised locally by RECMA for this is incredible, but to also be recognised globally demonstrates the broader strength of the OMD global network.”
Globally, OMD Worldwide has been named the best performing global media network for the fourth consecutive edition over the past two years in the latest RECMA Diagnostics Report. OMD is ranked number one in three regions and eight countries.
OMD Worldwide CEO George Manas said: “This report affirms that OMD is delivering on our three defining ambitions: being our clients most trusted transformation partner, leading the market in digital, data and tech, and attracting and retaining the world’s best talent.”
“Simply stated, OMD is the agency best able to help brands move forward and move fast into a new era of opportunity,” he added.
Recent months have provided ample evidence supporting Manas’ claims, including OMD being ranked the world’s most effective media agency – for the 10th consecutive time – by the Effie Effectiveness Index; solidifying its position as the leader in consumer attention with the launch of a planning tool that operationalises attention metrics in investment decisioning; and earning Media Network of the Year at the 2022 Cannes Lions Festival.
In addition to its top performance ranking, OMD Worldwide is also number one in RECMA’s Overall Activity Volume ranking, with $36.7 billion and almost 10% of industry shares; and topped RECMA’s Compitches annual report as the leading Global Network in 2021.
OMD’s parent company Omnicom Media Group has also been awarded the #1 media agency group in Australia in the RECMA ‘Qualitative Domestic Report’. The collective success of the Group has resulted in a 13-point lead ahead of its closest competitor.
Peter Horgan, CEO of Omnicom Media Group Australia and New Zealand, said: “The continued momentum of our agencies across Australia is a testament to the ongoing focus from our leadership teams, ensuring the right expertise and resource is in place to deliver for our clients.
“The scale of OMG allows us to continually invest in the best talent and new capabilities to drive forward innovative client solutions. We are delighted to be named the #1 Australian media agency group in the latest RECMA qualitative report and congratulate the entire OMD team on being recognised as the #1 Australian media agency,” he added.
