NOVA Entertainment brings radio to the big screen with Google TV launch

Radio makes itself at home, on your Smart TV.

NOVA Entertainment has expanded its digital footprint, announcing that its suite of apps is now available on Google TV and Android TV, making it the first and only commercial radio network in Australia to launch across these Smart TV platforms.

The newly released apps: Nova Player, Smooth Player, FIVEAA Player, and Star 104.5 Player, are now live on the Google Play Store.

The move allows listeners to tune into their favourite NOVA stations straight from the lounge room, with just a remote.

Digital innovation with scale and intent

The Smart TV expansion caps off a year of steady digital investment from NOVA, including upgraded websites for FIVEAA and Star 104.5, improved Chromecast functionality, and an enhanced in-car listening experience through Apple CarPlay.

The network also brought Coles Radio and Sky News Radio under the same digital umbrella as its core brands, boosting consistency and usability across platforms.

“At NOVA, innovation is at the heart of everything we do,” said Tim Armstrong, NOVA Entertainment’s head of digital product, technology and data.

“Since the start of 2021, we’ve made significant advancements, becoming the country’s most widely available radio network regarding digital platforms. Making our brands available across new environments like Google TV reflects our commitment to delivering the best audio experiences for our listeners, wherever they need it.”

For brands and media buyers, NOVA’s Smart TV launch opens up new cross-screen campaign possibilities, bringing audio into the connected TV ecosystem at scale.
