Despite a rainy late Autumn night, 300 guests attended Nova 100’s Chrissie, Sam & Browny Made for Melbourne event at Planetshakers in Southbank last night.
Guests were entertained by Melbourne Symphony Orchestra who performed a classical arrangement of multiple songs from Nova’s playlist including Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Up” and Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” on arrival with Nova 100’s morning announcer Jaben Ryan taking over the DJ decks until the formalities kicked off.
Hosted by Nova Entertainment COO Louise Higgins, MC Tom Gleisner introduced Nova’s new breakfast team Chrissie Swan, Sam Pang and Jonathan Brown to the crowd.
On air the team constantly reference Browny’s fondness for the song “The Horses” which he performed “karaoke” with Daryl Braithwaite on The Footy Show several years ago. Guests last night were surprised with a performance by the Aussie music legend himself, with the team joining him on stage to sing along.
During the event Apparition Media created a contemporary mural of Chrissie, Sam & Browny which was completed by the end of the night. The team also threw to the audience, with news.com.au’s Andrew Bucklow and Starcom’s Peter Toone and comedian Joel Creasey all getting involved with general knowledge questions for Jonathan Brown – recreating one of the breakfast show’s regular segments Ask Browny. The night concluded with a high energy set by modern DJ rapper Matty Charles who got the crowd dancing.
