The world’s best tennis players are setting their sights for Australia in a massive Summer of Tennis beginning on January 1. Viewers can catch all the action across Channel Nine, 9Gem, 9Go! and 9Now.
Legends of the game and the rising generation of young players will soon be lining up to begin their preparations for the first Grand Slam title of the year, the Australian Open.
Nine’s Summer of Tennis starts with the ATP Cup in Sydney, live from January 1, where 16 countries will compete in teams for the trophy.
It continues with a new one-off tournament, the Sydney Tennis Classic, a combined men’s and women’s event, to be played January 9-15.
The action also swings to South Australia for the Adelaide International, a favourite with players the world over, from January 3 to 15. Across two events, male and female stars of the game will be eager to take home these trophies in the lead-up to the Australian Open.
Meanwhile the southern capital will host Melbourne Summer Set from January 4 to 9, a series comprising three more international tournaments – two for women and one for men – at Melbourne Park.
After this build-up, the main event – the Australian Open – begins on Monday, January 17. The 2022 Open promises to be another blockbuster, with tennis fans looking out for what the opening Grand Slam of the year always delivers: 14 days filled with big names, thrilling matches and great stories. Fans will be able to watch every match of the AO live and free on Channel Nine, 9Gem, and streamed on 9Now.
