102.9 Triple M 17.2% (17.1%)
Triple M Newcastle continues to reign in the regional city, despite 0.1% drop in this survey. The station fared particularly well with the 40 to 54 age demographic gaining 4.8%, and 4.2% among 18 to 24 year olds.
Meanwhile, the program’s biggest drop was -6.1% with the 25 to 39 demographic and -15.5% with 10 to 17.
Newcastle’s #1 breakfast radio show since 2015, Tanya Wilks and Steve Graham have continue to hold on to the top spot in city with 20.6% of the breakfast audience share, an improvement of 1.1% on the last results.
Wilks and Graham spoke to Mediaweek back in June and share what they believe has made their pairing so successful.

Wilks explained: “I think the fact that Steve and I had been friends for years, breakfast show rivals for most of those, passing each other in the hallway and having a laugh as we disappeared into separate studios… we’re both successful as individuals and then coming together just lit the fuse for fun and fireworks.
“We brought two different fan bases together and well, here we are still surprising each other and ourselves,” she said.
Graham added: “Genuine friendship, trust, and being a fan of each other’s work.”
Hit 106.9 12.8% (13.9%)
SCA’s fell short this survey by -1.1%. The breakfast trio of Nick, Jess & Ducko recorded a -1.0% in share to 12.4%.
But the nationally syndicated drive show hosted by Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little performed well with 16.9% share.
2JJJ 12.8% (11.7%)
Triple J has had small victories in this survey with incremental lifts. The breakfast session got 11.6% which is a lift of 2.2% from the previous survey of 9.4%, meanwhile its morning program won a share of 11.9% from the past result of 11.1%
But it was the drive show with Michael Hing and Lewis Hobba that performed the best with 17.5% in the time slot with a 2.2% improvement from the last survey result of 15.3%.
ABC Newcastle 9.2% (9.2%)
There were no changes with ABC Newcastle as it maintained its audience steady audience share of 9.2%. The best performing program of the station was the evening slot growing 3.4% to 17.9% in this survey.
105.3 New FM 9.0% (7.1%)
The station grow in audience share in this survey by 1.9% to 9.0%. New FM’s top performing slot is afternoon with Tyler-Claire which got a lift of 2.6% from 7.8% to 10.4%.
2HD 8.1% (8.1%)
The station, which is owned and operated as part of the Super Radio Network of stations, maintained a steady audience share with no changes to its 8.1% audience from the last survey.
ABC Classic 2.5% (3.7%)
The classical music station drop -1.2 in this survey, from 3.7% down to 2.5%.
2RN 2.2% (3.4%)
2RN drop -1.2% in the share from 3.4% down to 2.2%. The station’s biggest drop in age demographic was with 40 to 54 year olds down -4.5% from 5.7$ in the last survey to 1.2%.
ABC NewsRadio 1.1% (1.1%)
ABC NewsRadio also maintained the same results as the previous survey with 1.1% audience share. The time slot that saw the biggest lift in this survey was the evening with 3.5%.
