Network 10 has announced the appointment of Sarah Johnson as the company’s head of publicity responsible for leading national publicity for 10’s shows and talent.
Johnson is currently national publicity manager at 10, a joint role she held with Catherine Donovan.
Donovan, who is Brisbane based, has been named 10’s head of PR strategy and events and will be responsible for leading strategic PR initiatives and managing key publicity events and projects.
Network 10’s chief content officer Beverley McGarvey said: “It’s really exciting to be making these two appointments. Not only are SJ and Cat brilliant and experienced PR executives, they are a pleasure to work with and invaluable team members. I am thrilled they are taking on these critical roles at such an important time for the Network.”
Network 10 has also announced the appointment of Kirsty Wilson as head of social content responsible for the company’s social content strategy as it enhances and connects this capability across the network.
Brad Garbutt, who previously managed Network 10’s social media team, retains his marketing responsibilities as head of marketing.
On Wilson’s appointment McGarvey said: “Social plays an increasingly crucial role in building our brands and engaging our under 50s audience. As we continue to increase our marketing investment and focus, it’s important that we have a dedicated leader to take our social strategy forward. It’s fantastic that we’re able to appoint Kirsty to lead this function and I look forward to continue working with her in her new capacity as she takes over the leadership of our energetic, imaginative and hard-working social team. Kirsty is a seasoned professional. She is dynamic, solutions-oriented and has great plans for social. I can’t wait to see the function continue to thrive.

All roles are effective from Monday 14 January.
Meet 10’s team
Sarah Johnson
Johnson has almost 20 years publicity experience across entertainment and broadcast media including eight at Network 10, most recently as national publicity manager. She has also worked at Endemol Shine Australia and XYZ Networks.
On her appointment Johnson said: “I am thrilled and honoured to lead the highly-talented and successful Publicity team at Network 10. It’s a very exciting time for the Network with a fantastic line-up of new and returning content across our broadcast and digital platforms. It’s going to be a great year at 10 and I’m very excited to be part of it.”
Catherine Donovan
Donovan joined 10 in 2004 and has held a number of senior publicity roles at the company including Sydney publicity manager, network publicity manager – sport, head of publicity and most recently, national publicity manager. Prior to 10, Donovan worked in a communications role at Warner Village Theme Parks.
Donovan said: “It is such a dynamic and exciting time for Network 10 and the industry. Our brilliant program schedule coupled with our outstanding on-air talent (not to mention all those behind the scenes) presents a plethora of unique, and at times, extraordinary publicity opportunities. With the addition of big events such as the Melbourne Cup, we are in a fantastic position. There is so much to look forward to. I can’t wait.”
Kirsty Wilson
Wilson has over 20 years experience in journalism, production and publicity including five years at the BBC in the UK and three years at ITV. She joined 10 in 2008 and has held a number of senior publicity roles including Sydney publicity manager and acting head of publicity.
Wilson said: “Smart social content is critical in today’s commercial television landscape, particularly for 10’s target under 50s audience. I’m thrilled to be leading our new, future-focussed social division. I very much look forward to working with 10’s existing social media producers and further expanding this wonderful team so we can lead the way in continuing to deliver innovative, fresh and engaging content to viewers and advertisers.”
