Neighbours will officially start production on 17 April 2023 at the iconic Nunawading Studios in Melbourne.
The announcement, by Network 10, Amazon Freevee, Prime Video and Fremantle, was shared by the cast during the final show of “Neighbours – The Celebration Tour” at the London Palladium.
Cast on stage included Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburne, Stefan Dennis, Ryan Moloney, Annie Jones, and April Rose Pengilly. All six actors will be returning for the new chapter of the soap opera.
Rebekah Elmaloglou (Terese Willis), Georgie Stone (Mackenzie Hargreaves) and Tim Kano (Leo Tanaka) will re-join the series’ longest-serving regular cast members; Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson), and Ryan Moloney (Jarrod “Toadfish” Rebecchi), to reprise the roles that made them household names.
Fan favourites Ian Smith (Harold Bishop), April Rose Pengilly (Chloe Brennan) and Melissa Bell (Lucy Robinson) will star in guest roles when the long-running series returns.
Jason Herbison, Neighbours executive producer, said: “It feels very real now. It’s a hive of activity at the studio.
“We’re busy writing the next chapter of Neighbours, bringing to life again the show’s much-loved characters as well as new residents. It’s exciting to see the sets being prepped, ready to start filming on April 17 which will be a huge day for everyone involved.”
The continuation of the long-running soap series—about the lives, loves, and challenges of the residents on Ramsay Street in Erinsborough, Australia, a fictional suburb of Melbourne—follows the finale in 2022, which was watched by millions of fans.
The new chapter Neighbours will launch in the Spring of 2023 and is produced by Fremantle.
The series will premiere for free, exclusively on Amazon Freevee in the UK and U.S. The series will also stream on Prime Video in Canada, Ireland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
Neighbours will continue to be broadcast in Australia on Network 10, the home for Neighbours for over three decades.
Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia and episodes will be available ad free on Prime Video in Australia seven days later.
