Chrissie Swan has switched the mic on for her first national show, with the launch of The Chrissie Swan Show across Australia on the Nova Network.
Joined by Jack Charles – or ‘Hollywood Jack’ from his time with Chrissie, Sam and Browny – the pair laughed about how it felt like the first day of school, before putting the call out for people to ring in.
“This is the first time I’ve ever done a national show, so I’m being heard in Adelaide, Sydney, Perth, Brissy, and of course my hometown of Melbourne,” said Swan. “Say hello to me and I’m going to say hello to you.”
Listeners were certainly ready to say hello, with an eager lineup of callers ready to congratulate Swan and score themselves a Priceline voucher.
One caller asked “how excited are you?” with Swan replying “Very excited, can you tell? I feel like the cat that’s got the cream.”
Regular caller from Chrissie, Sam and Browny, ‘Sexy Michelle’ even made an appearance, asking Swan “how do you feel not having to set the alarm so early?”
“It’s really nice, I just feel like I’ve won the jackpot here talking to you and everyone else,” Swan replied.
In October last year, Nova Entertainment confirmed that after seven years on air, Chrissie, Sam and Browny would be wrapping up at the end of 2022.
The ACRA award winning trio departed on top, having been the #1 FM or #2 FM Melbourne breakfast show 19 times since launch.
“I’m not as sad as I thought about this show finishing up. I have so much to be grateful for, and that is the overriding feeling,” Swan said at the time.
“For the listeners with whom I feel a very deep connection, you matter very much to me, and you saved me sincerely during the lockdowns before and after. I will never forget the impact you had on my sense of purpose,” she said, tearing up.
“I can’t thank you enough for listening and giving me a reason to get up and get on with it I really mean that 100%,” she added.
