The MFA NGEN community are coming together for the first event of the three-city NGEN Charity Cup Dodgeball Tournament, with the aim of raising $40,000 for UnLtd charity partner Musicians Making a Difference (MMAD).
The aim of the NGEN Charity Cup – which kicks off in Melbourne tonight before heading to Sydney (26 May) and Brisbane (1 June) – is to raise much-needed funds for youth charities as well as provide an opportunity for members of NGEN.
The MFA NGEN is a community for those with less than five years of experience in the media industry – to come together for a round of teamwork and networking with their peers.
This year’s theme is Battle of the Bands, calling NGENers to channel their inner musician and dress up as their favourite band or artist.
Sydney and Brisbane registrations are still open, with all NGENers encouraged to participate. Dodgeball Tournament teams consist of eight people, but companies with fewer than eight NGENers can reach out to the NGEN team to be matched with another member company. Companies with more than eight NGENers can submit more than one team. Spectators are also welcome to attend.
All industry professionals can get involved by buying raffle tickets, which are being sold by NGENers as a prerequisite for participating. Prizes include AFL and NRL match tickets, harbourside accommodaiton in Sydney, restaurant vouchers, tickets to Mamma Mia the Musical, and many more.
Musicians Making a Difference (MMAD) is an Australian charity that uses the power of music to help over 20,000 at-risk young Australians every year across 15 communities, and a further 1.5 million people through online initiatives.
NGEN Charity Cup is sponsored by OMD as Silver Sponsor in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, and VMO Active in Brisbane. In Melbourne, local music promotion company Thick as Thieves is providing DJs and equipment to bring great tunes and good vibes for dodgeball participants and spectators.
