Although this is the station’s lowest share since 2021, Gold still leads the FM market. It’s also the lowest breakfast share for Christian O’Connell since the start of 2022. That FM breakfast lead is now paper thin with Fox breakfast just 0.2 of a point behind. Daytime at the station is strong too with leading daytime shares of 11.9% in morning and 12.7% in afternoon. Drive is competitive with 9.7%. Gold is a clear #1 FM on weekends. Gold is #1 40-54 and #1 FM 55-64.

Fox is enjoying its third of four 2023 surveys over 9%. Breakfast with Fifi, Fev and Nick is getting oh-so-close to knocking off Gold in breakfast. While Fox has had slightly bigger breakfast shares recently, the gap between the two FM leaders hasn’t been so small for some time. Fox last ranked #1 breakfast in 2019. The station-high share is 11.2% in afternoon. Drive with Carrie and Tommy is #2, just behind Nova. Fox is again #1 25-39.

The station has nudged 8% twice in the past four years. Breakfast with Ben, Liam and Belle climbed 0.4 to 7.1%. Will and Woody are on 8.1% in drive, a competitive share in younger demos, yet one that overall ranks them #5 out of #6 commercial FM players. Growth at the station has no doubt been helped by the Ashes coverage late in the survey (the First Ashes Test fell within the survey dates). The glow from the cricket is washing across the station. Station share of 3.1% is best since 2021 and breakfast posted its equal second-best radio ratings share in close to two years. Evening share has always been strong, and it lifted 0.5 to 4.0% this survey.
