Commercial Radio & Audio released the July results with Triton Digital. The Australian Podcast Ranker is a monthly snapshot of the top 300 podcasts listened to by Australians and the top 300 Australian podcasts.
Lizzie Young, CEO of Commercial Radio & Audio, said consistent measurement was becoming more important as podcast consumption grew.
“When a majority (55%) of Australians are consuming podcasts every month, consistent and verified measurement is essential. The Ranker gives publishers, agencies and brands the trusted, independent data that turns a growing medium into a confident investment.”
Podcast listeners gear up to spend
The July release also highlighted the commercial value of podcast audiences ahead of Black Friday. More than half of podcast listeners surveyed had bought something online in the previous month.

Among Society & Culture listeners, 61 per cent had purchased clothing or fashion items. Meanwhile, 40 per cent of True Crime listeners and 37 per cent of News listeners had visited a hardware store in the previous month.
Purchase intent was also evident across several genres. Thirty-one per cent of Health & Fitness listeners, 30 per cent of True Crime listeners and 29 per cent of Comedy listeners said they planned to buy furniture within the next 12 months.
The consumption figure comes from Edison Research’s The Infinite Dial 2026 and refers to Australians aged 10 and over. Shopping data comes from Triton Digital Demos+ Australian Survey Data from Q3 2024 to Q2 2026 and represents each genre’s monthly audience aged 18 and over.
The Australian Podcast Ranker is commissioned by Commercial Radio & Audio and published by Triton Digital. Its results comply with IAB Podcast Measurement Technical Guidelines.
