Hamish Blake and Brickman took a cheeky swipe at their competitors on Monday night’s episode of Lego Masters: Grand Masters.
Tasked with building scenes from iconic Disney films, the teams had 10 hours to recreate the magic movie moments. Andrew and Damian spent their time creating the scene from the 2009 film Up where Carl’s house takes off, lifted by the power of thousands of balloons.
As Damian battled to create the enormous bunch of balloons, the show’s hosts looked on.
“Are balloons interesting on TV? That’s really the question about this build,” Hamish began.
“You can’t make a whole show about balloons,” agreed Brickman.
Hamish wrapped up before the show went to an ad break, saying that “Balloons are good for a part of one episode of a show. No, I don’t think there’s a series in them – but maybe there’s something we’re missing.”

The pair were of course referencing Blow Up, the balloon art show coming soon to Channel Seven. Despite Channel Nine filming Lego Masters back in October, a perk of timing saw the joke aired on Monday right as Seven have amped up their previews and promotions of Blow Up.

Hosted by actor Stephen Curry and comedian Becky Lucas, alongside resident balloon expert Chris Adamo and a host of celebrity guest judges, Blow Up will see the nation’s greatest balloon artists, decorators and twisters go head-to-head across a variety of challenges to turn ordinary balloons into works of art.
When the series was announced at Seven’s 2023 upfronts in August last year, Seven’s chief content officer, entertainment programming, Angus Ross, said: “Blow Up is a breath of fresh air for Australian television. It has the wow factor, heart and humour that we know will captivate families around the country as they discover the astounding world of balloon artistry.”
