Kyle and Jackie O have made a 20-year-old from Ashfield $100,000 richer this morning, live on air.
Thanks to Australian Idol, KIIS 1065’s $100,000 Noise gave listeners the chance to name the noise heard live on air, with clues placed across billboards all over Sydney and win life-changing prize money.
The noise, first announced on Monday, January 16, had callers scratching their heads at what the one hundred-thousand-dollar noise could be.
First up, caller Kelly guessed, ‘flicking the top two corners of your phone case on and off.’, but it was discovered she had been looking at the wrong billboard and was incorrect.
Caller Georgie had seen the clue on the billboards and guessed the noise was ‘a stud earring being put on’… she was incredibly close but wasn’t 100% correct and wasn’t afforded the prize
20-year-old caller Katie from Ashfield was the next caller, who was nearly in tears when she called, saying “I’m nearly about to cry”, saying the $100,000 would be life-changing for her.
Katie guessed the noise was ‘taking an earring off’, and it was correct. Live on air, she broke down in tears and was speechless that she was correct and had won this life-changing money
When asked what she would do with the money, Katie replied, “probably put a deposit on a house.”
It’s been less than a month since Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson have been back together on air after Jackie O temporarily left the show on sick leave in November.
On November 14th last year, Jackie O began the show from her Sydney home, but didn’t stay on-air for too long. After being unable to shake a cough she’d picked up as a result of Covid, Henderson told listeners that she had been to the doctor for medical advice.
The advice she received was that the punishing breakfast radio hours were doing her no favours, and that she needed to take a break from the early mornings in order to rest and kick the cough for good.
