The newest Stan original documentary series The Wallabies – Inside Rugby World Cup 2023 is set to be released in its entirety on February 22, with the trailer out now.
The three-part series tells the story of the Wallabies under coach Eddie Jones, as they attempt the ‘smash and grab’ at Rugby World Cup 2023 in France. The campaign didn’t end as planned for the Australians, with the team knocked out in the group stages of the tournament.
Created by award-winning production company CJZ in conjunction with Karlinberg Entertainment (Karl Stefanovic and Richard Weinberg), the documentary offers exclusive access to Eddie Jones as he takes over the team nine months out from the tournament.
This is the first time Rugby Australia has given an all-access pass to the Wallabies in over 30 years. Cameras follow the Wallabies through team camps, training sessions, dressing rooms, and on the field as they take part in The Rugby Championship, Bledisloe Cup and Rugby World Cup 2023.
Rugby fans will get an insider peek behind the scenes of every loss, injury, and candid moment of the players as they crash out of the most controversial Rugby World Cup campaign in Wallabies’ history.
Wallabies players featured in the series include dropped captain Michael Hooper (Rugby 7s), James Slipper (ACT Brumbies), Taniela Tupou (Melbourne Rebels), Nic White (Western Force), Nick Frost (ACT Brumbies), Allan Alaalatoa (ACT Brumbies), and Carter Gordon (Melbourne Rebels).
The series was Executive Produced by Andrew Farrell, supported by Supervising Producers Mark Barlin, Rob Gunn, Tim Vincent, Matt Bath, Katie Cattell, and Anthony Griffis.
After watching the series, viewers can continue the players’ journey with the launch of the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season, kicking off on February 23, with every match available to watch on Stan Sport.
