Karl Stefanovic joined KIIS 101.1’s Jase & Lauren this morning to share some words of wisdom with Clint Stanaway for his new role as host of Weekend Today,
Stanaway will work seven days a week as he continues his role as newsreader for Jase & Lauren, alongside his Weekend Today hosting duties.
Stefanovic said, “You’ve got to be a man of the people, which I think is going to be the biggest problem for Clint because he is a little bit up himself, he is handsome, and you’re not meant to be any of those things if you are going to be a morning TV host.
“But he is going to be unreal and I am very happy for him.”
Lauren then asked if Stanaway would still be able to “party like he used to,” or if he should “bid farewell to his nightlife,” to which Stefanovic said, “Well, as I always say, drink responsibly – he will be fine. And also, just stay out of trouble. Go easy on the vodkas, go until about 2 or 3 in the morning, get yourself two hours sleep, and you should be fine Clinty.”
“You need an hour of just shower, a cold shower and then you are ready to go pretty much. Just don’t talk for the first two hours and you should be fine,” Karl Stefanovic added.
Jayne Azzopardi will join Stanaway as the new host of Weekend Today, alongside news presenter Sophie Walsh.
Stanaway began his career in news before moving to sport and spending time reporting from London.
“I’m a sports veteran, Jayne’s all about politics and I love Sophie’s Cheek and humour, he said.
“And we’re all from different parts of the country. I’m unashamedly a Melbourne guy, Jayne’s from the Sydney shire and Sophie’s a Queenslander at heart and I love that about us. And I think that’s really showcased on our show,” he added.
