After four years working alongside Dave ‘Rabbit’ Rabbetts, Julie Goodwin has made the decision to step back from Star 104.5’s Rabbit & Julie Goodwin breakfast show. Goodwin will continue to be heard on the show for the first quarter of 2020 and will continue to be a regular guest on the show throughout the year.
Goodwin said: “It’s with real sadness that I’ve made the difficult decision to step away from my breakfast role, but I’ve had to weigh up my family, my cooking school and life balance priorities, and hope I’m doing the right thing. My time at Star 104.5 has been a pleasure and a privilege and I’m proud to have worked with such a great team. I’m indebted to Rabbit, my partner and mentor, for teaching me everything about radio and for the wonderful laughs and fantastic times. I’m also awed by our listeners for sharing their stories and for their kindness, generosity and humour.
“I’m thankful to my husband Mick and our three sons for their support and good sportsmanship while I shared our stories on air and I look forward to our lives being more in sync. I can’t wait to return in the new year while we transition to something wonderful and look forward to remaining a part of the Star family.”
Shayne Sinclair, Star 104.5’s Program Director said, “Julie’s unique chemistry with Rabbit will be missed by the Central Coast but Rabbit and Julie always look the bright side of life and this will not change. Rabbit and the team’s commitment to creating a great breakfast show for our listeners will continue and we are excited about the new opportunity that 2020 will bring for the show.”
Rabbetts said: “The last four years have been a ridiculous amount of fun and we’ll be mates for ever! Whilst I’m gutted that Julie has abandoned me and ruined Christmas, I have to say that I’ve got so much admiration and respect for her making this decision. Hopefully this “cooking” thing works out for her.”
Julie will continue to be heard on Star 104.5’s Rabbit & Julie Goodwin breakfast show when the team returns on 20 January 2020 and will play an Integral role in finding the right person to fill her shoes.
