Icon Agency has announced the appointment of Gabrielle Gray as general manager.
The business consultant is the first person to step into the role of general manager for the integrated communications agency.
Gray first joined the agency in late 2021 in a consulting capacity to manage finance and resourcing for a number of key client accounts and made an immediate impact.
The newly appointed general manager brings more than 20 years of experience to the role. She will lead the commercial strategy for the business and drive efficiency and growth.
Icon’s managing director, Joanne Painter, said of Gray’s appointment: “Gabrielle has been a fantastic addition to the Icon team. She delivers tremendous value across all departments of the business and is a natural choice to lead the team as general manager in our next phase of growth.”
Gray shared she was drawn to joining Icon Agency because of their commitment to purposeful work, solidified the recent launch of brand platform: ‘For people, with purpose’.

The appointment of Gray as general manager follows the appointment of Hamish Fitzsimmons as director of strategic advisory and public affairs in July. The new director of strategic advisory and public affairs brings plenty of experience with him to the role.

Icon Agency also expanded its Sydney office at Pyrmont’s Jones Bay Wharf by welcoming four new hires across the business.
The new appointments included as senior program director on the Department of Health project is Carly Vale, formerly Senior Creative Producer at Ogilvy Public Relations. Carmen Famularo joins the digital team as the senior UX/UI designer, while the Sydney PR team welcomes two new Account Executives, Zoe Benham and Giorgia Rapella.

Gray’s appointment continues Icon’s commitment to driving gender equality in the leadership ranks which has been gender balanced since 2021.
