Same show, new news. Have You Been Paying Attention? returns to Channel 10 on Monday, 3 May at 8.40pm on 10 and 10 Play On Demand.
The show will break down the most bizarre headlines of the week with quizmaster Tom Gleisner keeping score. Each week the five guests (with Ed Kavalee and Sam Pang returning in their permanent seats on the panel) will be quizzed on both the week’s top serious news stories and whatever nonsense is currently taking the internet by storm.
Speaking about the new season with 10Play, host Tom Gleisner said that the key to the program’s success was in its topical nature.
“Quiz shows have been a part of the TV landscape forever, but a topical news quiz show has a particular appeal because it really does give you a taste of the week’s headlines.
“We’re sometimes told by people that our show is how they get their news, which is… truly disturbing and is something we should all be worried about,” he added.
Speaking about the quizmaster role, Gleisner said “There is a certain lust for power and control that underscores my DNA. I do like the ability to ask the questions… I don’t know how I’d go the other way around.
“Hayley Sproull who hosts the New Zealand version of Have You Been Paying Attention? will also appear as a guest on our show,” Tom added, “so she’s proven that you can do both, I’m just not sure I’m quite up to it.”
The show won two Logies in 2017 for Best Entertainment Program and Most Outstanding Entertainment Program, one in 2018 for Most Popular Comedy Program and two in 2019 for Most Outstanding Entertainment Program and for Most Popular Comedy Program.
Have You Been Paying Attention? starts Monday, 3 May At 8.40pm, only on 10 and 10 Play On Demand.
