Guardian Australia has announced two internal appointments that strengthen its sales team.
Delwyn Smith has been promoted to account director for Victoria and South Australia, while Joshua Casemore has been promoted to state sales director for NSW.
Smith has been with Guardian Australia since February 2021 after previously being with Nine/Fairfax for ten years.
Since she started at the Guardian, she’s grown the VIC and SA markets and has built strong relationships with agencies, including Initiative, OMD and Mediacom.
Following her promotion, Smith said: “I’m thrilled to be promoted to account director. It has been an amazing 18 months watching the growth of Guardian Australia’s sales team, and I’m excited to build on this success and strengthen key relationships in the VIC market.”
Jillian Matthews, state sales director, VIC, said: “We’re excited to see Delwyn thrive in her new role and it’s fantastic to recognise talent and promote from within.”
Casemore has been promoted to the newly-created position of state sales director, NSW, and will be responsible for overseeing the NSW sales team, leading the local sales strategy.
Casemore said of his promotion: “I’m extremely excited to be taking on this opportunity and look forward to working closely with our NSW team by producing innovative and market leading campaigns for our clients.”
Mason Rook, commercial director, congratulated Casemore on his promotion and said: “Josh has an incredible track record of partnering with our clients to deliver meaningful and innovative campaigns.
“Josh’s role is critical to the continued growth of the Guardian and I’m excited to see what he can deliver with his expanded remit,” he added.
Mediaweek spoke to Guardian Australia’s director of growth, Jocelin Abbey, a few months back about its campaign launch, why they chose to partner with JCDecaux and the campaign tagline: “In the fight for progress, news needs a guardian.”
