Ray Hadley was the only timeslot where share was steady – he now commands an improved share of 15.9% of the morning audience. All other dayparts were down with evening shedding 2.5 to 16.6% and breakfast with Alan Jones down 1.5 to 13.8%. Both those timeslots though remain clear market leaders. The biggest demo move was 55-64, down 2.8 to 12.1% where the station now trails smoothfm, WSFM and ABC Sydney.
KIIS 1065 9.5% (+0.9)
The station has posted its best 10+ share since survey one in 2016 when it was on 9.8%. Meanwhile Kyle and Jackie O have posted their best breakfast figures – 11.1% – since survey two 2016 when they were on 11.3%. In the process KIIS is #1 FM in Sydney, while K&J are again clear leaders FM breakfast after sharing top spot with WSFM last survey. All KIIS timeslots lifted including evening with the departing Thinkergirls contributing to a lift of 2.7 to 7.8%. KIIS lifted 18-24 but is still ranked #3. It dropped 25-39 but remains #1.
WSFM 9.4% (-0.4)
Share backed off a little, but it holds above 9%, which is where it has been for three successive surveys giving the station its best run in over two years. Jonesy and Amanda bucked the trend big time though with breakfast up 0.4 to 10.7%, which is their second consecutive survey over 10% and their best in over two years. Morning dipped over a point and afternoon was steady on 11%. WSFM remains a clear leader 40-54 with share of 14.8%.
smoothfm 95.3 9.2% (+0.5)
Share climbed giving the station its highest number since its 11.3% in survey three this year. Breakfast was up 0.6 to 7.0%, but the big movers were drive up 1.4 to 9.2% and evening up 2.2 to 8.8%. smoothfm’s strongest demo remains 55-64 where it ranks #1 overall on 15.0%.
Nova 96.9 7.6% (+0.4)
A small improvement overall but a big improvement in breakfast where Fitzy and Wippa sit on an improved 7.4% where they are again #3 FM. It is the station’s third-best breakfast survey result this year after to 7.8% twice earlier in 2017. Kate, Tim and Marty have the biggest station share on an improved 9.9%, where they trail only KIIS as #2 drive overall. Nova remains a strong leader 18-24 and a more competitive #2 25-39.
104.9 Triple M 5.5% (-0.3)
The Grill Team was steady on 7.0% at breakfast, which is their equal second-best after 7.8% in survey one this year. All other dayparts took a hit. Station is most competitive 25-39 where it ranks #3.
2CH 1170 4.2% (+1.0)
The biggest mover in the market with its best share this year and very close to the best in over two years after a 4.3% result in survey eight last year. Driving the growth is morning on 4.7% (+1.7), afternoon on 4.3% (+1.1) and evening on 5.0% (+1.3). Share was up in both key demos – 55-64 and 65+.
104.1 2Day FM 3.8% (-0.2)
The decision to change breakfast again supported by this survey result with share down 0.4 to 2.9%, which is the lowest breakfast share in two years.
TalkingLifestyle954 3.3% (-0.4)
Breakfast with John and Garry remains the star performer with share on 3.8% this survey, which is the best since survey two this year.
Sky Sports Radio 1.1% (-0.1)
Not much movement here for the survey, which ended three days before the Melbourne Cup. The Big Sports Breakfast is on 1.8%, narrowly ahead of the weekend share of 1.6%.
