Taking over the reins of 6PR breakfast from Monday, November 21 will be Steve “Millsy” Mills and Karl Langdon. The pair will take over from Gareth Parker, who is leaving the station to take on the role of news director in the Channel Nine Perth newsroom.
Parker has a number of accolades, including winning the Matt Price Prize for WA Columnist of the Year, WA Journalist of the Year at the 2021 WA Media Awards, as well as a nomination for a prestigious Walkley Award.
Back at 6PR, both Mills and Langdon are already familiar voices to listeners of the station. Mills will make the move from Afternoons whilst Langdon comes to Breakfast from the Wide World of Sports program.
“I’m excited to be back on Breakfast, with my good mate Karl, waking up Perth!” Mills said.
“Life can be challenging for many at present, but our focus will be providing inspiration to start everyone’s day on the right foot.
“Throw in some laughs and the latest news, and 6PR Brekky with us will definitely get Perth talking.”
Speaking about the new job, Langdon said “I’m looking forward to setting the early wake-up call to work alongside Millsy. I’ve admired and respected him since the moment he joined 6PR and to work alongside him will be fun.
“Get ready for the unexpected in 2023!”
6PR content manager Emily White said: “These two lovable larrikins will keep you across everything that’s happening in Perth: the latest news, traffic, sport and weather, plus your favourite segments like the Rumour File and $1000 minute will continue.
“What better way to wake up and start the day in WA?”
In the most recent radio ratings survey, a rise of 1.3 points saw 6PR take a total share of 8.5%. Breakfast with Gareth Parker rose by 1.5 points for a share of 11.2%
